Simon Peig has been cast in a British comedy film adaptation of A Christmas Story, Variety has learned.
The film is set to be released in 2017.
Pegg will play a fictionalized version of the author’s beloved character, played by Sam Riley.
“A Christmas story” is an award-winning children’s classic about the story of Jesus Christ and his family.
Peig is best known for playing the titular character in the television series, “Family Ties.”
The actor previously starred in the BBC series “Babes in Toyland.”
Peig’s upcoming film, “A Holiday Story,” is due out in January, according to Variety.
Peggy Teigen, the co-founder of the Pegg Family Foundation, will produce and executive produce the project.
The Peggs’ foundation aims to promote diversity and equality.
The group has a long history of promoting diversity and has recently expanded its work to include women and people of color.
The charity also has a commitment to promoting equality.
In January, Pegg said in a statement that he “loved” playing the character of Santa Claus, and that the experience was “an incredibly humbling and powerful experience.”
He added that he and his wife, writer/director Peaches, had a “very good time” and hope that “the world will continue to be a better place” as they continue to work together.
