India’s top entertainment company has hit new heights in recent months.
With a record year, its revenues surged to $2.1 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017.
Its biggest revenue performer was The Hub, which saw revenue increase by 17.8% to $1.45 billion.
The Hub’s revenue rose 19.4% year-on-year to $3.5 billion.
The company’s biggest-selling movie, India: Live Forever, is also up 20% year on year to $11.7 million.
The Hub also led the list of top-earning movies with a total of $5.1 million.
It was followed by The House of God, which was up 17% year to date to $8.1m.
It will release its next film in October, 2019.
The entertainment industry is now India’s largest, accounting for more than 70% of the country’s GDP.
The growth rate has been in the double digits for a decade.
But the rise of the entertainment industry has been slow in recent years, with many sectors struggling.
The rise of Indian cinema has helped to revive the country, but its success has been overshadowed by the Indian film industry, which is now facing competition from overseas.
India is the world’s second-largest movie market, with an estimated 4.5 million cinemas.
