Brazilian Grand Prix: F1 is returning in 2019 but no Grand Prix title is on the cards.
The governing body has confirmed that the sport will return to the grid in 2019 after it was cancelled due to financial problems.
In a statement on Friday, the governing body said the Grand Prix of Sao Paulo was cancelled in April, 2019.
“The cancellation of the Formula 1 World Championship in 2020 was the result of financial difficulties,” the statement said.
“We are currently working to find a solution to this problem and we hope to return to Formula 1 in 2019.”
The Grand Prix in Sao Paulo had been scheduled for 2021.
F1’s return to Brazil is the latest example of the sport’s global popularity and the economic crisis in the country.
