Naughty Dogs, which makes the critically acclaimed Uncharted and the upcoming The Last of Us, is being acquired by Bandera, a gaming media company that has developed and marketed digital distribution platforms for the likes of Sony, Nintendo and Blizzard.
Naughty Dog, which was founded in 2006, has become a gaming brand synonymous with action, survival and horror.
The company’s games include the Uncharted series and The Last Of Us, two of the most critically acclaimed franchises in gaming history.
The last of the Uncharted games was released last year, while the upcoming installment is due out in November.
Naughty’s latest, The Last Frontier, is set to be released on Oct. 22.
The acquisition, announced Thursday, includes Naughty dogs parent company Banderra.
Banderai was founded by veteran game developer Markus Persson in 2004 and has developed a portfolio of titles that include the recently released The Last Guardian, a PlayStation 4 title that is set for release on Oct 15.
The deal will result in the acquisition of the gaming company’s assets, including its publishing, digital distribution and marketing businesses.
The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2021.
