A Disney-owned television series about Queen Elizabeth II will be replaced by a Disney-produced television show.
The Disney Channel announced Tuesday that it will move “The Queen Is Dead,” which ran from 2010 to 2013 on ABC.
The show, which featured the late Queen Elizabeth III, had a recurring guest star who starred in several episodes, including actress Jane Seymour.
Disney Channel president and CEO Michael Jacobs said in a statement that the show’s popularity and “international recognition” made it an ideal fit for the Disney Channel.
The ABC and Disney-owned channels have not yet said when they will resume programming “The Royal Family,” which was a key part of the Disney-ABC deal in 2009.
